The little tomato plants are much happier with their roots in warm soil. When plants are in the garden, the leaves can be protected from light frost by covering the plants in plastic jugs with their bottoms removed gallons, or a cloth or plastic sheet over the plants. Before transplanting, water the plants while they are still in the pot.</p>
<p>Tomato plants grow roots in any part of the stem that is buried underground, so the plants will be planted deep benefit until the first set of leaves.
